Die Zwillingshäuser

Location:

Wolfhausen, Bubikon, Switzerland

Year:

2018

On the outside, they look like one piece, the two three-storey apartment buildings on a slope with a view of Lake Zurich and the mountains. The facades made of concrete, porcelain stoneware and plaster as well as the gently sloping pitched roofs and striking wooden hatchways create references to the forest and the rural surroundings. The Lukarnen appear optically as independent cubic elements. The slightly sloping trapezoidal shape of the plot and the conditions imposed by the municipality, which only allows gabled houses in this construction zone, presented a major planning challenge that was met with care. One of the houses was set back slightly to ensure the prescribed forest clearance. Yilmaz Deger Architecture & Design House&Wohnen 2020
